By chance good luck, the New York Times yesterday published an extended profile on Citizens Climate Lobby. The profile fits with our own May 18 call-to-action post, asking that we all support CCL’s June 9th day of calling US congressional and Senate representatives.
Thanks go out for a solid long-form journalism piece from NYT’s David Bornstein, with photo by Justin T. Gellerson. Their story also includes links to further information, including a fine documentary on Citizens Climate Lobby from the National Geographic Channel’s “Years of Living Dangerously”
To Save the Planet, Use Your Voice… here’s how:
Citizens Climate Lobby is asking US-based folks on June 9th to make three calls – to their local House representative and their two Senators, and help spread the word for others to do so as well. Please go to their Facebook Event page, and Share it with friends…
CCL’s primary message is for Congress to eliminate the vast subsidy fossil fuel polluters receive, by never having to pay a cost when they pollute.
(Even conservative economists and policy-makers view this solution, “carbon fee and dividend,” as a path to a transparent, well-functioning market – one of several fine market-based solutions conservative climate change fighters endorse: A market in which all players make rational decisions based on pollution’s true cost. This, in turn, will almost automatically result in using fossil fuels more-wisely and frugally…)
It finally eliminates free-rider syndrome. Why should some suffer a cost caused by others who never bear that cost of their pollution? No free riders anymore…
Sign up for Citizens Climate Lobby’s text alerts or to click to use their online action tool, and put June 9 on your calendar as a day to make these three important phone calls! And please consider adding them to your charitable giving?

Not sure where to start saving the planet (civilization, really)? Our Thesis is: “Start by deeply knowing your three personal Superpowers: ”
1) To save the planet, CHANGE YOURSELF FIRST;
2) To save the planet, INVEST YOUR WORKING LIFE;
3) To save the planet, USE YOUR VOICE and take advocacy seriously! Never miss a vote and never, ever stop influencing your government and all businesses locally, at the state level, and at the national level.
It falls upon you to lead the way with substantive global warming solutions.
And in all cases and at all times, cast aside the learned-helplessness that infects so much of modern life… the time is now for climate change solutions. No one else is going to do your part for you… never give up.
