Thank you, Lord, for putting Amory Lovins and his Rocky Mountain Institute on the planet…
Here one of the world’s leading experts on energy efficiency economics demolishes the Trump team’s incorrect argument that lowering automobile fuel economy standards is good for the economy:
LOWERING FUEL ECONOMY STANDARDS IS NOT GOOD FOR THE ECONOMY. Here’s how:
This bonehead move will take $98 billion out of the wallets of drivers, just to save Detroit automakers $33 billion – a net loss to the nation’s economy. You have to weigh BOTH the costs and the benefits… the Trump people didn’t do that, and ignored the massive cash win high miles-per-gallon standards gives consumers.
So, what, we get to pay more at the pump (and go to the pump twice as frequently)?
I’m not buying any car from any car manufacturer who treats customers that poorly, nor would I recommend anyone vote for clowns who would pull such a stunt. Obama put us on a good path by aggressively moving to increase miles-per-gallon standards. Why throw those family dollars away?
No one I know wants to send more cash to the idiot oil companies and foreign oil producers, many of whom hate our guts. We should remember: High fuel economy standards make future oil wars less likely… oh, well, toss that out the window.
By my simple math the Trump order hurts the American economy to the tune of $65 billion…net net. What are they thinking, making it cost more to drive? High miles-per-gallon equals more cash in family bank accounts.
Please, go to your representative’s next town hall meeting or phone their office…. heck, phone their office every day.
This is just plain dumb.

Not sure where to start saving the planet (civilization, really)? Start by deeply knowing your own personal Superpowers:
1) To save the planet, Change Yourself First;
3) Use Your Voice and take advocacy seriously! Never miss a chance to vote, and never ever stop influencing your government and all businesses locally, at the state level, and at the national level. It’s on you to lead the way with global warming solutions.
And in all cases and at all times, cast aside the learned-helplessness that infects so much of modern life… the time is now for climate change solutions.
