Fine, so our first blog post posed problem and mission statements… scary stuff, but big and true stuff -probably the biggest challenge humanity has ever faced.
But we’re about solutions here, and that’s where the excitement, community, and deep brain candy of this problem live.
That is what Global Warming for Busy People™ is… tools for each of us to succeed: Be part of humanity’s exciting shift to clean, healthy energy sources and the efficient, smart cities of our future. Be successful in how you go about it…
We are going to coach each other: There are concise, punchy models for maximizing one’s personal power (tools which are actually transferrable to other causes).
You and I are more powerful than we think… and we will cast aside the learned helplessness that infects individuals in societies as large as ours.
Effective use of personal power as a two-step process:
- To save the planet, change yourself first. Spend some time working on yourself.
- Then, focus your efforts outward and slay some dragons. Don’t try to go after all dragons… know the difference between the vital few and the trivial many.
Bonus: Use strategies which your innate talents line up best with. (And the way you’ll know is it makes you feel good, “Ahh, THIS is the right gig for me.”)
As you discuss the biggest problem facing humanity friends will ask you, as have mine:
“OK, I’m convinced about global warming… but what specifically should I do?”

How does one get started saving the planet? Start by deeply knowing your own sources of personal power: 1) To save the planet, Change Yourself First; 2) To save the planet, Invest Your Working Life; 3) To save the planet, Use Your Voice and take advocacy seriously! Never miss a chance to vote, and never stop influencing your government and businesses locally, at the state level, and at the national level.
And in all cases and at all times, cast aside the learned-helplessness that infects so much of modern life…
